Profile of Passenger Transport Service Users: Taxis and Vehicles for Transport with Driver (VTC) in Spain after the COVID-19
Main Article Content
Abstract
Consumers of passenger transport services in tourism vehicles were affected in their consumption habits during the time of the COVID-19 pandemic in Spain. The research establishes consumption preferences and generates a user profile differentiated between consumers of taxi or ride-hailing services. The applied methodology uses quantitative statistical and multiple correspondence analysis on the results of a survey with significant non-probabilistic purposive sampling. Through these analyses, the profiles of the different users have been approximated to the preferred mobility solutions. The results highlight the predisposition of citizens to use private vehicles rather than public means of transport, followed by taxis and ride-hailing service. Also, the large percentage of users who have used the taxi and ride-hailing service in the last year is also noted. The multiple correspondence analysis allows us to differentiate those users who prefer to use the taxi, the raid-hailing services or who, on the contrary, do not have a clear preference. It is concluded that self-employed users, employees, and older people tend to use taxi. Students and younger people prefer ride-hailing services. Finally, we find users from both subsets who have used the service at some point in an annual period.
