Abstract

Adolescence is one of the stages of development in which problems and difficulties that threaten the physical and mental harmony of young people in their social environment are experienced. One of these problems are the stressful events experienced by adolescents in this period of transition, reflected in; excessive consumption of food, alcoholism, vandalism among others. Given these situations, the main aim of this study was to determine the life events stressful in high school students of an educational institution in the city of Cuenca. The approach used was quantitative with a type of design descriptive, sampling was probabilistic and the sample consisted of 115 adolescents of both sexes between 16 and 18 years of age. The instrument used was the questionnaire for the exploration of stress factors: Life Events, by Lucio and Durán, 2004. The most common positive stressful life events recorded were: "Improved my relationships with other people" 73.91%, "I met New friends "69.56%," I share more time with my friends or partners "68.69%. Regarding the life events negative stressful, the most frequent were: "I got depressed" 57.39%, "I could not get what I wanted" 56.52%, "I had a love disappointment" 54.78%. Negative areas such as the family area with 39.13%, social with 28.69%, and health with 26.95% are also highlighted, whose prevalence represents a higher level of risk of emotional alterations.
