El derecho de los pueblos indígenas a la libre determinación en el derecho internacional

Abstract
The article aims to analyze the main trends towards the implementation of the indigenous peoples' right to self-determination both at regional (The Inter-American System of Human Rights) and international levels (The UN human rights system). Special attention has been paid to the interpretation of this right in different documents, such as ILO Convention 169, the UN Declaration on the rights of indigenous peoples, The American Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, etc. In this way, different aspects of the indigenous peoples’ right to self-determination has been considered from the perspective of international law. In conclusions this study has identified the measures and challenges related to the efforts needed to ensure the implementation of this right.
