Abstract

Spain, a major player in world tourism, has undergone a remarkable transformation in its tourism sector, evolving from a focus on the sun and sand to a richer offer that includes cultural and gastronomic attractions. The hotel sector has established itself as a crucial element of the industry, driving investment, employment, and innovation. This study focuses on the Spanish hotel sector to provide an in-depth understanding of its economic impact. It examines the evolution of the sector in terms of financial capacity, profitability, and employment generation using a detailed analysis of key indicators and an economic-financial approach. This study considers a variety of internal and external factors that influence a sector's profitability, including the macroeconomic situation, government policies, and variables such as location and innovation. The results show that, although the Spanish hotel sector exhibits strong entrepreneurial capacity, it faces significant challenges in terms of solvency and leverage. The study concludes by underlining the importance of developing efficient strategies to improve the sector's profitability and financial strength and providing a detailed analysis of economic indicators.
